Among the Galapagos Explorer’s renovations are the following terrific changes, to enhance your Galapagos cruising experience: construction of an additional 12 balcony suites in the “Deluxe Suite” category (currently a total of 16 out of 50 suites aboard have balconies); a newly-created “Relaxation Lounge” on the Marco Polo Deck features a spacious seating area, karaoke machine, bar service and two flat screen TVs; and to wrap-up the renovation, the owners of the ship hired a team of interior designers to ensure that all the new decorative pieces and furnishings have an uniform consistency.

 

A seasoned Captain plus 67 dedicated crewmembers and a team of top quality multilingual naturalist guides attend to the many details of your cruise. The chefs prepare a daily selection of delicious light Continental dishes, as well as Ecuadorian specialties. Special dietary requests are also served with style and flair.

 

Start each day with a full breakfast. At lunch, enjoy a buffet of crisp salads, healthy pastas, assorted fresh vegetables, produce, meats and fish, all creatively prepared. The dining room is just slightly more formal, yet relaxed enough and accommodating to your needs. No formal attire is ever required for any meal or function.

 

During your adventure cruise on the Galapagos Explorer, you may partake in informative daily lectures in the conference room or lecture hall (about the Galapagos’ ecosystems, intriguing fauna and flora), borrow a book or video from the extensive research library, relax with a drink in the bar area and go ashore on daily shore excursions, led by a team of category 3 (the highest grade) multilingual naturalist guides who share with the passengers their insights into the Islands’ diverse ecosystems. Diving options are also available on 4 and 7-night cruises.

The lounge chairs on the Sun Deck are a perfect spot for enjoying the Sun Deck are perfect spots for enjoying the warm Galapagos sun or to catch the cool ocean breezes as you cruise through Darwin’s biological paradise.

 

There are basic medical facilities and a physician onboard, available day and night throughout the duration of your Galapagos cruise (to take care of all passengers in case of minor emergencies). On the Galapagos Explorer, there is no extra charge for this professional service or for dispensed medications by the ship’s doctor while cruising.

 

In terms of the suites, the Galapagos Explorer can accommodate up to a maximum of 100 passengers in spacious suites decorated in modern style. All suites are equipped with a full queen-bed, convertible to two twin beds, a seating area with a sofa bed, a vanity dresser and have individually controlled thermostat, they are fully-carpeted, have a flat-screen TV, with close-circuit, in-suite mini-bar, lockable drawers for valuables, direct dial satellite telephone, walk-in or large closets, along with a private bathroom with marble vanity units and full size shower with cold and hot water, 110/220 volts outlets, hair dryer and other amenities.

 

The Renaissance Panoramic Suites (2) average 251 sq. ft. (26.66 sq. mts) in size. These suites are located on the Erickson Deck and have three large windows overlooking the bow of the ship.

 

The Renaissance Balcony Suites (4) are located atop the ship, on the Explorer Deck. These suites average 287 sq. ft. (26.38 sq. mts.) in size and offer the ultimate in terms of amenities, with great views of the ocean and include their own verandah.

 

The Deluxe Balcony Suites (12) average 215 sq. ft. (19.97 sq. mts.) in size. These suites are located on the Erickson Deck and have two large picture windows, with ocean views.

 

The Premium Suites (13) are located on the Marco Polo Deck. These suites average 235 sq. ft. (21.83 sq. mts.) in size and have large picture windows, with breathtaking views of the ocean.

 

The Classic Suites (19) are located on the Columbus and Magellan decks and average from 250 sq. ft. (23.23 sq. mts.) to 210 sq. ft. (19 sq. mts.) in size, depending on the specific suite. The Classic Suites on the Magellan Deck have port holes, instead of a full picture window.
